The Instructional Designer’s responsibilities focus on developing, designing and editing online training materials and content. This can include assessing learning needs and the target audience and analyzing existing materials. The Instructional Designer designs and develops materials such as eLearnings, lesson content, reference guides, and assessment tools. Through regular meetings with relevant internal partners, subject matter experts, and their manager, they ensure that the organization is prepared for new sales, systems and compliance initiative rollouts, and continuously works to improve upon existing training and documentation to increase clarity and relevance to the organization.
Primary Responsibilities
- Designs online based training materials and content to support training initiatives, including onboarding and continued education
- Manages day-to-day requests from user groups for learning consultation and reporting
- Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content that improves knowledge transfer
- Work with SMEs to identify target audience’s training needs
- Utilize the ADDIE Instructional Design Process to create content
- State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
- Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods
- Provide exercises and activities that enhances the learning process
- Create and conduct post-mortem training effectiveness measurement (survey and assessments)
- Maintain project documentation and course folders
- Must communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders
- Possess time management and organizational skills
- Equally comfortable working collaboratively and independently
- Ability to facilitate as needed to support company initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in education, training, or related field
- BS degree in instructional design, educational technology, or similar
- Proficient in Articulate 360 software suite (Storyline 360 preferred)
- Excellent knowledge of learning theories and instructional design models
- Lesson and curriculum planning skills
- Resourceful, can-do attitude in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to be an entrepreneurial problem-solver
- Focus on a positive guest /user experience with a strong writing skillset
- Adeptness with and enthusiasm for working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and/or other educational technology tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software suite
